The Springer Hustle–

This week on The Springer Hustle, we meet another producer, Annette, and get to see her in action. We start out on show day and Annette is doing last minute prep for a show where love triangles rule. Whoever did the wronging in the relationship has to drink or eat something disgusting to make up for it. Rachelle says she knows that Annette cares about the show and really puts everything into it. Unfortunately, her guests choke on stage and the show pretty much sucks. One of her guests laughs as his fiancé tries to beat on him and smiles as he eats the gross food. Rachelle tells Annette to make sure her guests stop smiling. Richard pulls the plug on the show in the middle of the taping and tells everyone to leave.

The next week, Annette’s APs call people to try and get guests. She has no guests booked and is just trying to find anyone that will be good. She tells her APs they have to step up at this point. Kristi has a secretly gay couple whose stepbrother doesn’t like gay people. Annette berates Kristi for wasting her phone calls and not having more information. She finally says the stepbrother doesn’t want to come on the show and Annette yells at her for wasting her time. Kristi cries that she’s working so hard and still getting yelled at. She gets some advice from Toby and he says their next show will be great.

30 hours to show time and Annette goes through some old files of good shows and wants to put together an update show. She gets a couple whose families didn’t like each other, a mother with a daughter who was out of control, and a few others. They feel good about the show and Annette goes to brief Richard and Rachelle on what she’s got. Richard gets confused over Annette’s description of the first guests and tells her to move on. He’s not impressed with anything else she pitches.

The next day, Annette gives instructions to an intern and a new AP on what to do to get her guests there. With 5 hours to show time, Annette’s guests start showing up. Kristi tells her one of her guests from Indiana can’t be found. One of the guests, Sonia, starts having chest pains and gets sent home. Annette now only has one segment left. The mother with the out of control daughter now has to fill an entire show, so Rachelle and Annette brainstorm on how to make it stretch. Annette is very worried and starts to panic.

Selina steps up and helps Annette by giving her a story she isn’t going to use for a show later in the week. She will brief the guests while they tape Annette’s portion. Kristi is running around and the rest of the team is completely in chaos. The show begins and Annette gets in her guest’s face and she is assured she knows what she’s doing. This really worries Annette because that usually means they are going to bail. Sure enough, the guest is boring and it doesn’t work. Rachelle takes over and starts getting the next guest worked up. Richard says it didn’t work and there was no passion.

Selina’s half of the show was great and saved Annette’s behind. Richard has decided to take Annette off the floor and talk with her. He decided his friendship with Annette was more important than the show, but the cameras weren’t allowed in the meeting.

Next week: Toby’s back! This time he’s an AP and is butting heads with his producer Nicole. She doesn’t want him to work with her anymore and he has to prove himself by booking some good guests.
