Reality Rewind 9/17 (Pickup Artist)

The final three on the Pickup Artist had quite the challenges on their hands with tonight’s episode. Not only did they have to get a phone number from a walking target during the day, they also had to pick up an exotic dancer in their field test. Who prevailed? Who made it to the final two? Read the recap after the jump.

Last time, Pradeep and Joe D. got into it when Pardeep smacked Joe in the face jokingly. This set the whole house on edge while they tried to survive the lingerie challenge. Pradeep was sent home and it’s down to the final 3.
This week starts with Brady and Kosmo waiting to see who the final guy was to make it through last week. They are hoping it’s Joe and not Pradeep. They are happy to see Joe come through the door and Joe relays what Mystery told him about hitting a plateau. They salute Pradeep with a team cheer.
The next day, they are getting ready and Kosmo tells Brady not to hit on guys. Brady says Kosmo is getting super competitive and they discuss how different their styles are. Brady says Kosmo is his biggest competition. Kosmo says there are just 2 more people to beat before he gets a lot of money.
The guys head out to the patio to meet Mystery and find out what their next challenge will be. They will be going above and beyond their game in the clubs. He tells them their greatest challenge will be a woman walking down the street. They have to approach a moving target. Mystery busts out the Newton’s Laws knowledge and says things in motion tend to stay in motion. They head to the front yard and Mystery instructs them to walk in front of the moving target and talk over their shoulders. Following people is off limits and so is approaching head on. The three main points are objects in motion tend to stay in motion, if you approach on the street with an “excuse me” then you have no value, and we don’t chase—women choose us.
Mystery takes them to a bridge and tells them to approach, attract, and get the phone number of a beautiful woman who is a walking target. The winner’s reward is to have Tara in the field as their “pivot”—a woman to help open sets. Mystery then disguises himself in a bad, almost Amish looking outfit so he can get a closer look. He sits on a bench nearby and comments as Kosmo strikes out repeatedly. He can’t even get any woman to stop and is completely disregarding what he was taught. Brady walks along smiling and talking to himself shaking his head. He tries to approach a woman with headphones and uses “excuse me” like he’s not supposed to. Brady does get a woman to talk to him, but couldn’t progress the conversation and she walks away. Joe just stands there and talks quickly as women walk by. He gets a couple to stop for a second and Mystery points out what he’s doing wrong. He finally just sits on a bench for awhile without even trying anymore. He says later he was pissed off at himself.
Mystery gathers the guys later and tells them all the things they did wrong. He tells them they didn’t draw people to them and they’ve all taken a step back and none of them win Tara’s help in the field test. He then leaves them to think about things back at the house. Kosmo says none of them deserve to be there. He says that one of them will be the master pickup artist, but they couldn’t even do this challenge. Kosmo wants to cry and says he’s emotional. They all lay down and rub their eyes a lot while they decide not to talk about it.
Later, the guys join Mystery and the wingmen for their next lesson. Mystery asks them about crushes on waitresses and “hired guns”—women who are hired for their beauty. He tells them it’s a different skill set to pick up a woman while she’s working. He is going to teach the guys how to pick up exotic dancers, which are the hardest “hired guns” to pick up. They will have to do this in the next field challenge without paying for it. Brady laughs as he says he has never even been in an exotic dance club before, let alone pick a dancer up. Mystery tells them they have to convey they’ve dated dancers before so they will automatically be accepted by the dancers. He tells them to turn off their sexuality and turn off the dancers’ stripper programming. They have to “game the gamers”.
Joe gets ready and smoothes his chest hairs out of his shirt. He doesn’t think he can do it since he couldn’t even get a phone number from a girl on the street. Brady is afraid they will all go home if no one picks a girl up. He thinks Mystery is torturing them since they didn’t do well in the challenge. Mystery says they need to keep their money in their pocket and their hands off the merchandise. Whoever gets a number closer on a dancer will win.
Mystery and the wingmen meet the guys outside a strip club. The guys roll up in a limo and Mystery tells them to treat the women in the club with respect. The winner of the challenge will be in the final 2 and be one step away from being the master pick up artist. Kosmo says he just needs to stick to the game plan and keep it simple.
The guys head into the club while Mystery and the wingmen watch from the truck. Kosmo sits down and a stripper immediately approaches him. Kosmo plays her off and tells her she’s not his type. Brady talks with a dancer and really seems to make her mad and she walks off. Mystery says Brady wasn’t respecting her and that was the problem. The same girl approaches Joe and stays interested in him and she talks with him for a long time.
Kosmo is still talking to the same girl and she’s still interested. Mystery thinks Kosmo is doing perfectly and he has a legitimate shot with the girl. He does, however, point out that Kosmo could fall into the friends’ only zone if he doesn’t convey interest. Meanwhile, Joe is still talking with Brady’s leftovers who Mystery says was really interested. Brady gets another shot with a different girl and finally hooks one in. Matador wants Kosmo to bounce with his dancer and he asks for her number. She says no because she has a boyfriend, so he leaves without a number. Joe is still talking to his dancer, and Mystery and the wingmen say he should bounce to the limo, but he’s fallen into the friends’ zone instead. Mystery says she knows his friends he keeps talking about won’t show up and that’s lowering his value. Joe feels good about his performance even though he didn’t close.
Brady is working on closing his dancer and tells her to change her clothes and come to the limo with him. She does and Mystery and the wingmen yell at him to pull the trigger because she’s throwing all sorts of indicators of interest at him. He eventually kisses her and Mystery is proud of him. Brady is amazed he was able to pick up a dancer his first time at a strip club.
Mystery gathers the guys later and tells them all that he is proud of all of them for their great job. He declares Brady the winner for showing signs of a master pick up artist. Brady will be in the final 2. Kosmo is freaking out because he doesn’t want to go, but doesn’t want Joe to go either. Joe says they aren’t mentally prepared to say goodbye to someone else. Brady says he’s comforted by the fact he’s immune, but he’s sad one of his friends will have to leave. They all sit around and talk about how much more confidence they have and Joe says he wants to help others understand barriers can be broken. They have a group hug and declare their love for each other.
At elimination, Mystery thanks all of them for letting him teach and share with them his strategies. The medallion represents joy tonight and Mystery reminds them about how they all failed in the moving target challenge and how discouraged he was. However, they showed signs of mastery in the field test. Matador tells Joe he needs to make the statement of interest so he doesn’t fall into the friends’ zone. J-Dog asks Kosmo why he didn’t go for a bounce and Kosmo tells him he wasn’t thinking about the game and he was just in the moment. Mystery reminds him the objective is to win the game and pick up the girl. Mystery tells Brady he’s starting to see the light of what his life could be like and Brady says no one back home will believe he picked up an exotic dancer. He takes his medallion and leaves the room.
Mystery tells Joe and Kosmo that he honestly does not know right then who to eliminate for the very first time during the competition. He asks Joe why he should keep him. Joe talks about breaking down barriers and he feels the longer he stays, the more momentum he gains to continue to grow and help others. Kosmo gets the same question and he says he feels like he has what it takes to be the master pick up artist, but everything is coming so fast like boxing and he’s proud of himself. Mystery tells him he did lose sight of his goal. He tells them it was a very difficult decision and after a long pause, makes up his mind. He tells Joe it’s game over and that he’s an amazing man and they have no doubt in time he will be a very successful pickup artist and wishes him the best of luck. Joe leaves as Mystery stares at Kosmo. Kosmo takes the final medallion as Mystery congratulates him. He tells Kosmo the final challenge will be his most difficult yet.
The Joe D. montage plays as he talks about how he’s gone farther than he thought and all the barriers he’s broken down. He is happy to get his life back on track and thanks Mystery for setting him free and giving him wings as he cries.
Next time, it’s the final 2. The final two will become the teacher for their final challenge. Mystery will choose new guys who need help in the club and Kosmo and Brady have to teach them how to pick up women. Only one can win. Who will it be?
