Watching VH1

This week, we got to see part one of the America’s Most Smartest Model finale. The final three (Angela, VJ, and Andre) head to Palm Springs for a big photoshoot after which one will be eliminated. Then the final two are given their last challenge to see who will be crowned America’s Most Smartest Model. To find out what happened, keep reading after the jump.

Previously, the models built and raced go-karts. They then had to write down who they think shouldn’t be America’s Most Smartest Model. VJ, of course, got the most votes. Their callback challenge was performing at a car show that surprised them with a rotating platform. Rachel and Brett were both kicked off and it’s now down to Angela, VJ, and Andre.

This week starts out with the models waking up and VJ said its strange to only have 3 people left and he can smell the money. Angela is happy to be the only girl left and she doesn’t think VJ should be there because he’s sneaky and he sets a bad example. Andre can’t believe he’s single handedly taken down all of those people. He talks to their pictures telling Erika she will be high fashion and Mandy Lynn was the sweetest girl in the world and she’ll do adult entertainment. He tells Gaston he had so much potential and Lisa was a great girl but she didn’t know Mary Alice’s last name. He then talks to a picture of a girl he doesn’t know her name and tells her she’s too damn orange. He tells Daniel not to mess with Russians and Slutty Rachel shouldn’t be a model. He can’t remember Angela’s name, so he has to go find her and ask her. He then goes back to the picture wall and tells her and VJ they’d better pray it’s not a photoshoot because he’ll take them out.

Later, out by the pool, Andre reads their note from Mary Alice. They are told to pack their bags because they are going on an overnight road trip. They load up into the van and start driving. Eventually they end up in Palm Springs and walk into a huge, beautiful house. There are gifts waiting for them including chocolates and champagne and their framed pictures. Another note is waiting for them saying Mary Alice will join them for dinner to get to know them on a personal level.

Andre is excited and he wants to show her the sweetheart he truly is and hands her a flower he picked from the backyard. Andre thinks she’s very cool and attractive. Mary Alice tells them their challenge will be a photoshoot and Andre is thrilled. Mary Alice tells them they aren’t going to talk about that tonight, though, because she’s there to get to know them.

She starts by asking Angela why she wants the title. She says she’s the oldest of 6 kids and Mary Alice says that explains about her always wanting to be in control. Mary Alice asks Andre what his friends thought about him doing the show and he admits they warned him to think before he opened his mouth. VJ wants to prove to Mary Alice he’s ready to learn everything about the business. He tells her about her parents divorcing and his dad was never in his life. Andre isn’t impressed with the sob stories Angela and VJ came up with as to why they deserved the money. He tells Mary Alice he loves the business. Angela tells Mary Alice her dream is to be a successful model and singer. Mary Alice asks Angela who is going to win and she says of course she will and when Andre is asked, he also says Angela which seems to stop everyone in their tracks. He didn’t really mean it though.

They wrap up their dinner and Mary Alice tells them tomorrow will be a photoshoot with other real models. Five models they have never met come through the door and talk with them. Andre is confident he will win. Mary Alice tells them to figure out who they have the most chemistry with to translate into the pictures. Once a model is picked, they can’t be used by the other competitors. She tells Angela to stop thinking about being a model and to be herself. Mary Alice tells them to have fun tonight. VJ immediately picks out a model named Heather and decides he wants to do the shoot with her. Andre talks to a couple of other models on the side and tells them about all of his experience as a model. Angela tells some others that she won the runway challenge and then demonstrates her walk. Two of the female models choose Andre and he’s happy with that. Meanwhile, Angela has decided she’s going to use the guys in her shoot so she can be the focal point of the photo. The new models leave for the night and VJ is ready to prove he’s America’s Most Smartest Model.

The next day, Mary Alice and the wardrobe people arrive bright and early for the 7 am call. Angela is the only one up and the whole gang of people go out to wake up Andre. VJ hops out of the shower, puts on a towel, and runs outside for the challenge. The premise of the shoot is Rock and Roll. Angela thinks she’ll be a natural because of her love of music. VJ says the new models look like they haven’t slept. Mary Alice reminds them that this is not an edge challenge and one of them will be going home tonight.

The contestants get wardrobe, makeup, and hair for the shoot. Mary Alice asks Andre who he’s going to use in the shoot and he tells her Lauren and Jane. Meanwhile, Angela calls her two male models over to talk with her about her being in control and tells them they are expendable and they are to work to make her look good. They aren’t too thrilled with the demands. Mary Alice asks VJ who will be in his shoot. He picks Heather and Lauren, which makes Andre mad. He tells Mary Alice VJ stole his girls and now he can only use one girl. She tells him he’s smart and he can deal with this. Andre says he knows he’s a great model and he can kill it anyway. VJ watches as Andre has his shoot and Andre is happy with his results.

VJ is up next and he starts posing in the same way Andre did in all of his photos, which again makes Andre mad. VJ just thinks Andre is jealous that he looks so good. He finally comes up with something on his own and Mary Alice tells him it’s no good and to not shoot the picture he wants. Instead, he throws girls into the pool and Mary Alice is thrilled.

Angela is up next and Mary Alice tells her not to over think it and to just be herself. Mary Alice tries to give her some advice and Angela says she’s smart and she doesn’t have to take that advice. She then does a quick change, comes inside, and starts singing as she’s shooting. Mary Alice doesn’t look thrilled and VJ said you can tell she’d rather do music than modeling. Mary Alice tells her she’s glad she’s singing, but she has to remember she’s a model. Angela is afraid she didn’t get good shots.

They all do some more inside photos and VJ says he feels like a rock star. Andre wanted to show a more fun side and he kisses the photographer several times. He wants Angela to do very well so he can get rid of VJ. Mary Alice calls it a wrap and everyone leaves.

The contestants head out and sit in the pool. Angela asks VJ how he thinks he did, and Andre makes a comment about how VJ copied him. VJ fights with him and says he didn’t copy someone he didn’t like. Angela thinks he’s a pathological liar and convinces himself he comes up with everything himself. VJ then gets in Andre’s face and tells him just to get out. Andre has to hold himself back from hitting VJ and eventually gets out of the pool with VJ calling him names after him.

That evening, they are all packing their bags and it’s time for elimination. VJ is anxious to see all of their photos. Angela admits the shoot was harder than she thought it would be, but she thinks she pulled it off. Andre says he feels almost bad competing against these people and he doesn’t know what they are doing there.

Mary Alice thanks them for spending the time with her. She says it was a hard decision, but it was very obvious for her. That scares VJ because he thinks she could be talking about his inexperience. She starts with Andre and tells him he had great chemistry with Jane and he really understands how to move his body and position himself and his props in photos. Angela says all of Andre’s pictures were great. Mary Alice shows her favorite picture which was done in only three shots. She tells him he is great at posing and he really worked hard and the whole crew loved working with him. He then thanks her and calls her babe, but corrects himself quickly. He’s proud of his work.

Angela is next. Mary Alice tells her she has an awesome body and she used her smarts to pick two of the best models there. However, she keeps her stance the same and she freezes up. She was giving the exact same thing in every picture. Mary Alice tells her she has an incredible voice.

VJ is next and Mary Alice is not impressed with VJ’s Zoolander and his boring chest. Andre says he has no idea what to do in front of the camera. Mary Alice tells him it was hard to pick a photo she liked. However, he got stronger as he went along and finally hit his stride.

Mary Alice tells them sometimes the most beautiful people are not the best models and she cuts Angela. She tells her she has many gifts of being beautiful and singing and being smart, but she just wasn’t model enough. VJ says she has a future in music. She hugs everyone goodbye and says she wanted it more than the others and she cries.

Mary Alice tells the guys Ben is preparing their final challenge at the mansion. Andre says VJ needs to watch out because he’s coming for him. VJ thinks they will kill each other before the end of the show. Andre is not thrilled about having to spend another day with VJ. When they get back to the mansion, VJ says he’s exhausted and heads to bed. Andre sets up his fallen comrades names in his room and is ready to add VJ to the list.

The next morning, VJ is outside thinking about how they are down to the final two. He talks about how close he is to the $100,000. Andre says he’s so excited it’s his last day as both a Soviet and a model. They join Ben in the living room. VJ says he’s ready for whatever they’ve got in store. Ben tells them it is up to them to tell the judges why they should be America’s Most Smartest Model. They will have to put together a 5 minute computer generated multimedia presentation on why they should win the title. Andre is scared and thinks he’s in trouble. They have to give clear points and give visual proof to prove their arguments. They are given help from some professionals and they are allowed to use anything they want to demonstrate why they should win. Since Andre won the photoshoot, he is given a new cell phone with browser capabilities, and a camera. The model who makes the best presentation will win the title.

Andre and his helper start discussing how they are going to put the presentation together. She starts by asking him what distinguishes him from VJ. He tells her about how VJ cheats and copies his poses. She tells Andre that he doesn’t want to make a negative presentation, because that would leave the judges with a bad taste in their mouths.

Meanwhile, VJ and his helper start working on the flow of the presentation. He wants to be smooth and prove he’s a better presenter. They talk about how VJ is like a Golden Retriever and Andre is more like a pitbull. He thinks it’s genius.

Andre is still stuck on being negative about VJ. He’s having trouble getting thoughts out and translating them to proper English. His head almost explodes as she tells him he’ll be the one advancing his own slides. She asks what he wants to leave them with and it makes an amazing idea come to him. He goes outside and starts calling people on his new phone…and it’s to be continued.

Next week, VJ and Andre present their final projects. Andre has something up his sleeve and his helper thinks it’s great. Then, VJ has some issues during his presentation and Andre seems to do very well. The final elimination happens and the winner is crowned.
