Irv is at Deb’s house eating some cereal and she spots a hickey on his neck. He swears it’s a rash, but she doesn’t believe him. She seems to be hurt that he has a relationship but is always around her house like he’s still got her, too. She thinks things would change if she could meet someone.
Deb calls up a friend to meet up for manicures and shopping while Irv goes to meet a new artist for his label. Flash is a hip hop artist who has some songs ready for Irv to listen to. They play a song for him and he says he feels the energy and hunger through the song and that’s music at its best. Irv asks if he can put the song on the radio to let the public decide.
Deb and her friend, who happens to be DMX’s wife, go and get manicures and pedicures and talk about dating. Deb wants to be a role model to her kids and doesn’t want a lot of men parading through her house. She complains about Irv still always being around and not feeling like she has a life outside of that. She thinks if she has a relationship, he won’t be able to just pop in whenever and treat her house as if it were his.
Irv heads over to a friend’s house and meets a model and asks her to dinner with them. He says she had “talent”. Irv says he likes all women, no matter their race. He hugs her goodbye and tells her he’ll call her in a few hours. They head to dinner later and the model shows up with her friend. He gets into a conversation about relationships with her. He tells her it’s a one and a million shot to find true love. The model asks him about his kids’ mom and he says she’s special but not special enough to make him stop cheating. Irv says every woman thinks he’s a dog, but they always respect his honesty deep down.
Deb and her friend decide to go out to a club and hang out. She has some wine and they talk about what Deb really misses in her life, like sex. She’s afraid Irv thinks she’ll just wait around for him and he’s not strong enough to make the change to do the right thing. Her friend asks her what she’s looking for and she says she doesn’t know.
Irv talks about growing Murder Inc. to branch out into all genres. He has Vanessa Carlton and she plays and sings him a new song she’s written. He loves her and thinks she’s rare and priceless. He signed her immediately for her unique voice. He tells her he never would have imagined she would have signed with him. She signed with him because he’s so enthusiastic about her music. He calls her a timeless jewel and she said says she is not afraid of any backlash.
At the club, a couple of guys come up and introduce themselves. Deb introduces herself as Tanya and the guys say they are Nigerian princes looking for a queen. Another guy comes up and claims he’s an underwear model. Deb asks if he has children and he says he doesn’t, but wants five boys and will sign them up for a couple. Deb decides he’s scary and she doesn’t like his white suit. After that she thinks about staying single forever. She says it’s hard to start all over again and her kids are the most important things to keep in mind. She’s frustrated because she doesn’t think there is anyone out there.
The single that Irv released for Flash didn’t get the response he wanted, so he decided not to sign him. He discusses it with the guy that brought him Flash and he says he’ll understand and is prepared. Irv says 5 years ago he would have signed him, but the music landscape is much different now. He says Vanessa is where it’s at and goes to visit her and tells her he is listening to her CD a lot in his car and which song he wants to release. She says she’s got another song for him and sits down at the piano and plays and sings as much as she has. He tells her she has to finish it because it is a great song that could be a big hit. She promises she’ll have it finished by the next time she sees him.
At Deb’s house later, Deb tells Irv about her night at the club. Irv tells her any guy with money and has a head on his shoulders won’t want a woman with kids and her own money. She doesn’t take kindly to the fact Irv says she’s screwed. He wants her to find happiness and she argues about how he wants his cake and eat it too. They argue about how he has the best of both worlds. He’s got his single life in the city and can come and go to his family life at her house. Deb says he’s living two lives and Irv doesn’t like that how he’s paying all the bills and he takes it that Deb thinks he’s got a double life.
Next week, Irv has trouble juggling all facets of his life. Deb goes off to meet up with her friends who are also Hip Hop ex-wives.
