Previously, the models had to draw shapes and make clothes out of those shapes. Blonde Rachel decided to stick with the smartest person in the house to try and win the competition, however she went first and screwed both her and Daniel by correctly making zero shapes. For her efforts, Mary Alice kicked her out before the elimination ceremony even happened right after the callback challenge. At the elimination, VJ, Aussie Rachel, and Daniel were called down, but none were let go.
The next morning, Angela says elimination was strange because no one was eliminated. Andre tells her she wasn’t in the bottom three and that’s good. Daniel comes downstairs and sees a birthday cake and a note for him. The rest of the models clap as he reads the note. They all get to go to a hot spot for dinner and dancing. They are all excited about the night off and Andre wants to get him drunk and drown him later.
They load up in the limo and VJ says they are all looking forward to no challenges. They all start drinking and Aussie Rachel feels light headed after her first glass of wine. Daniel wants all of them drunk with him. Andre said Aussie Rachel was about on the floor after two shots. They head upstairs to the club to party some more with an open bar. Mary Alice tells the camera that what the models don’t know is that this is their Edge challenge. She’s invited several friends from the industry and they will be talking with the models to see their networking skills. The models have no idea they are in the middle of a challenge. She says there is never a night off when you’re in Hollywood.
Andre decides to choose the hottest girl in the club and make her the target of his evening. It turns out she’s half Romanian, just like he is and he’s thrilled. They talk in Romanian. Andre gets mad when a couple of guys walk over to him and try to talk to him while he’s busy with the hot girl. He blows them off pretty quickly to get back to the girl after he tells them he’s not trying to be an actor.
Daniel is getting super wasted and talking about how superficial everything is in Hollywood. Meanwhile, Brett and Pickel start talking to Victoria, a casting director, and Brett says she’s a sweet lady and they hit it off. vj is also talking to one of the other guys in the business. He seems to have figured it out that this is a challenge and starts handing out his card. Aussie Rachel says her vision is blurry and she’s hearing echoes. She can’t string two sentences together. Angela gets a strange vibe from one of the guys in the business she feels is hitting on her. Pickel says he’s Italian and he’s very touchy feely and creeps out one of the ladies.
Soon someone grabs Angela and takes her into the VIP lounge. There is Mary Alice and some of the people she was talking to earlier. She seems to not understand when Mary Alice tells her she is in the middle of her Edge challenge. She sits down and Mary Alice asks her if she recognizes anyone in the room. She knows one of the guys’ last names starts with an F and he’s in the entertainment industry. She says she feels tricked and not understanding why they are being tested on their night off. Mary Alice asks the panel how Angela did. They say she didn’t really show any interest in their proposals or being represented by their companies.
Brett, Pickel, and Andre are amazed when they come in, and Aussie Rachel is still drunk and feels embarrassed and humiliated. Pickel is accused of groping one of the entertainment ladies. Andre admits he was hitting on the model instead of talking to the others and one of the ladies tries to speak to him in Russian and he says he can’t speak perfect Russian. Aussie Rachel admits to drinking too much and Mary Alice tells her she should have known they wouldn’t be getting a night off in the competition. Pickel is then telling the panel he gets 40 cards a night and he admits to being tipsy. He says he blew it and Mary Alice agrees.
Brett knows all of their names and the panel agrees he is cute and has a lot of potential. VJ comes in and also knows all of their names and shows Mary Alice he got cards from all of them. They say he did a great job and is very strategic. Daniel comes into the room and he’s obviously very drunk and tells Mary Alice she’s beautiful. Daniel is upset that they expected him to have a challenge while he’s drunk on his birthday. When he comes out, he says to the other models he doesn’t network with a purpose and only really talks to people he is truly interested in. Aussie Rachel is upset and feels that she was made a fool of during that challenge and feels she was taken advantage of. Daniel is going on about how he would be an awesome networker if he knew that was the challenge. Angela says she has a great team behind her and doesn’t need to network. VJ knows he did a good job.
Mary Alice gathers all the models and asks Rachel why she’s upset. She says she felt vulnerable and it’s trickery. Mary Alice tells her that’s why she was worried about her in the last challenge and not being tough enough for this competition. Angela tells her how she felt she was being hit on instead of being networked. Mary Alice tells her that’s garbage and men have given her many opportunities and she needs to work an entire room.
Brett is told he did a great job, but VJ stole the show and Mary Alice tells him he’s got a lot of opportunity from that night. He wins the challenge and she tells him he gets to assign the other models how long they can have in front of the camera to get their shot. It ranges from 10 minutes to 1 minute and he will get a full 30 minutes. He’s proud of himself.
They pile into the limo for the ride home and Daniel starts yelling about how unfair the challenge was. Andre does a hilarious impression of Daniel yelling and tells him to stop. Daniel keeps saying he doesn’t need to be a model and he doesn’t need to network. He’s still yelling when they get back to the house about how they turned his birthday into a joke. Andre says he sounds like South Park. Brett says Daniel is having a meltdown and he’s drunk and needs to go to bed. He’s still yelling and throwing things when he’s in bed about how they lied to him. Pickel says the challenge sent him on a downward spiral and he doesn’t know if he’ll recover.
The next morning, everyone is getting ready for the callback challenge and Daniel wakes up with a headache. They read a note about a country photoshoot and VJ starts deciding who to give which time to as the van pulls up to the Bony Pony Ranch. Pickel starts seeing a bunch of crazy animals. Mary Alice tells them they are doing a photoshoot for Antique Denim and the clothes are provided for them. Rachel says she’s doing her best today to put last night behind her. The model with the best shot will win immunity. VJ goes to stand near Mary Alice and gives Angela 10 minutes, Rachel gets 8 minutes, Pickel gets 6 minutes, Brett gets 4 minutes, Andre gets 2 minutes, and the 1 minute goes to Daniel because he’s the smartest one in the house.
Of course, there is a twist. They will each get to choose from a horse, donkey, llama, goat, ostrich, chicken, and a pig. VJ takes the horse, Angela wants the goat, Pickel takes the chicken, Rachel chooses the donkey, Andre gets the llama, and Daniel is left with the ostrich. He’s very worried he won’t get any shot with only one minute and the biggest animal. Andre hopes this will make Daniel go home.
VJ goes first and he’s confident because he’s got the most time and the best animal. Andre says VJ is cheesy and looks more like a farmer than a cowboy. VJ then gets to hold the stopwatch for all the others to enforce their time limit. Angela is confident because she gets 10 minutes and works with animals for a living, so she should be able to get a good shot. The goat runs away from her, but she gets it back. Rachel has a lot of trouble with her donkey, but Pickel and his chicken do a great job. Brett sees his giant pig who starts screeching and has no idea what to do. He puts it on a leash and tries to get it to stand still as he yells help. He chases it around, but never catches it in time. VJ starts smack talking Andre to make him upset so he won’t focus. Andre says he wants to knock out VJ the pig. Daniel is last and the rest of the models watch the trainer struggle with the ostrich. Daniel tries to man handle the ostrich in the one minute he’s got.
Of course, Daniel gets pissed off that he was sabotaged. Andre gets in his face about how he’s going home and that makes him even more upset. VJ doesn’t like that and decides to get in the middle of it by telling Andre he did horribly. Andre gets angry at VJ for his trash talking during the shoot and VJ tells him if he can’t take it, he shouldn’t dish it out. They yell at each other a lot and it turns into a mess. Later, Pickel is telling Andre that the only four that should be there is Andre, Brett, Pickel, and Rachel. They decide to break down VJ next like they did Daniel, and an alliance is born.
Mary Alice meets them all to talk about how the shoot went. They tell her it was very difficult and Daniel starts to explain his situation, but she cuts him off to look at the pictures instead. VJ’s picture comes up first and Mary Alice tells him he’s got a lot of potential, but he’s got a lot to learn. His picture lacks intensity and emotion. Angela is next and she is told she is posing too much. Mary Alice tells Rachel she was let down by her and it looks like it was all a show. Pickel gets ribbed about his love for the chicken, and Mary Alice says she expected more and it looks like a bad chicken commercial. She tells him chicken was a bad choice. The photographer told Brett he was scared of the pig and Mary Alice says it wasn’t too bad considering he only had 4 minutes. Andre’s picture turned out well and he tells Mary Alice he wasn’t scared of the llama at all. They think it’s a great shot. Daniel’s picture comes up and he looks scared and you can’t see the denim.
Mary Alice chooses her two favorite pictures to be VJ’s and Andre’s. Mary Alice says that Andre’s proves you have to use every second to your advantage and she liked every picture he shot that day. She tells VJ that he’s got raw talent, but Andre’s experience shined through. She tells VJ he should become friends with Andre and get some advice from him and tells Andre he has won the challenge. He’s very happy that he beat VJ. Rachel is worried going into elimination because she and Daniel had the worst pictures.
At the elimination ceremony, Daniel says he doesn’t deserve to go and he hopes he stays. Rachel feels beat up and disappointed in herself. Ben congratulates Andre on his win in the callback challenge. Mary Alice asks Daniel if he felt it was fair that VJ gave him the minute and the ostrich and he says he just had to do his best. Ben calls him out and says that’s not what he heard about how he felt when it happened. Daniel tells him he was just frustrated he wasn’t able to compete and do his best. Andre wants him to stop complaining and go home.
Mary Alice calls down Daniel, Angela, and Rachel. She tells them she’s sad to see both of the remaining women down there. She starts with Daniel. Ben asks him about his educational background. Mary Alice tells him he’s book smart, but she doesn’t think he’s street smart and you have to be to be a successful model. Mary Alice tells Angela she did horribly at the networking challenge. Angela says she’s under a management contract right now so she can’t really network. Mary Alice tells her that’s the worst excuse she’s ever heard and that she’s a know-it-all and she needs to be open enough to take advice.
Rachel is told her problem is that she has no confidence in front of the camera and she’s been sliding downhill. She says she hasn’t been pushing herself like she should. Mary Alice tells her she’s got potential and a great look, so they are letting her stay and she’s safe. Rachel is very relieved that she gets a second chance and knows she’s got to go forward starting now.
It’s down to Angela and Daniel. Mary Alice tells Angela that she’s beautiful, tall, and thin, but that doesn’t make her a model. She says she’s willing to learn and take advice to become better. Mary Alice then tells Daniel she’s heard he’s not happy with some of the challenges lately and gives him a chance to explain. He says he was upset he didn’t get a chance to talk to the photographer before his one minute with the ostrich. She tells him he’s and adult and he should have initiated that conversation. They cut Daniel and Andre is happy. Daniel is disappointed that he didn’t have more of an opportunity to prove to Mary Alice he was a model.
Mary Alice tells Angela she’s got to ease up and take advice. She is sent back to stand with the other models and there are only six models left. Andre is happy things are coming together and he has an alliance that will target VJ next.
Next time, the alliance puts together their plan to get rid of VJ. The Edge challenge involves running on treadmills and becomes super intense. The callback challenge is a quick change modeling show with an obstacle course in the middle. Rachel is concerned at the next elimination ceremony.
