Irv is nervous because Lloyd’s album has competition when it was released with Musiq Soulchild. Irv wants the number one spot, but they are neck and neck. Meanwhile, Irv’s dad meets him and Deb at their son’s playoff football game. They cheer him on and Irv gets a little heated yelling at his son as the other team scores. Irv’s dad is trying to point out the good things, but Irv just wants him to win. As his son cries after the game, Irv tells him to man up. Deb thinks it’s okay to cry.
Later, Irv tells his son what he did wrong. His son wants to say something but doesn’t because Irv is telling him not to say something stupid. They start to play catch and Irv throws the ball so it’s impossible to catch telling him to run and go get it. Irv says he needs to learn to man up because he wants them to be happy and life is real.
Deb pulls him aside later at home, and tells him to stop being so tough on the boys. She doesn’t want him to tell them to man up anymore. Irv tells her it’s for their good as a man. He says man and woman’s philosophy is different. She promises to comfort the kids when they are crying. They try to one up each other and fight about who is right. Irv points out that Deb treats Angie different than she treats the boys and he doesn’t get in the way. They talk about Deb peeing standing up and Irv wants to be able to talk to his boys in that way and they understand. Deb wants him to talk to them, but he’s going to do it in his way.
He heads to the backyard to play basketball with the boys. He makes fun of his son when he can’t make a basket, so his son walks off into the house. He tells him to man up and decides he’ll talk with him when he gets back from LA. He gets to LA to help film a video and talks about how he and 50 Cent were feuding at a party. Irv’s upset the only news he reads about himself are made up things instead of his new albums.
He meets up with Lloyd who asks him if he goes number one if he could have a Benz. Lloyd does the video as basically just a performance video focusing mostly on him. Irv thinks it’s a great video and they’ve done everything they can do to get to number one.
Back at Deb’s house, the family is eating together and she’s telling her kids it’s okay to cry. She tells them that she wanted to cry, too, and even Irv cries. She says she doesn’t like that he says man up all the time. Angie agrees with her. They say they aren’t afraid of their dad, but Deb says they are a bit because they won’t act the same in front of him for fear of making him angry.
Irv then goes to a photoshoot and an interview for King Magazine. He gets props for Lloyd’s hit single and Irv says he wanted to make that statement he’s back. Irv tells the interviewer he wants Murder Inc. to become the biggest label in the world that does all genres of music. In the limo, he gets a call and he finds out he was about 5,000 albums short of number one. He says he needs to man up because he gave it his best shot and he is going to get after it again.
When he gets home, he plays some basketball with his kids. He tries to explain why he’s so tough on them as Deb asked him to do. He wants them to be able to take care of themselves because he wants them to be the best at whatever they are going to be in life. Irv isn’t going to change even though Deb wants him to. He wants his boys to be men and be successful to take care of their families some day.
Next time, Irv decides to try new artists in different genres. Deb decides to go on some dates because Irv is dating.
