Reality Rewind 10/28 (Smartest Model)

I have been looking forward to this episode all week! Since I’m a science teacher, I have a soft place in my heart for Bill Nye the Science Guy and he is making an appearance on this week’s America’s Most Smartest Model to help them with a science fair. Who will survive this week’s eliminations? Find out in the recap after the jump.

Previously, Mandy Lynn proved she’s really dumb and wouldn’t eat the cake and got kicked out of the challenge. They competed for a slot in a workout DVD and Andre fought with everyone…again. Jesse is upset everyone keeps mentioning his weight and Mandy Lynn was thankfully cut loose.

This week starts off with Andre talking about how not eating the cake is going to haunt Mandy Lynn for the rest of her life. He decides to move into her old room since all of the people who were in there originally are now gone. He’s keeping trophies from everyone who has been lost and decorate his room with them. Meanwhile, Daniel is still complaining about Andre yelling at him and how he never got an apology.

In another room, Jesse is crying and Blonde Rachel joins him. He’s very upset about the way he keeps getting treated about his looks. She tells him it’s okay to cry and that it hurts. He just wants a little validation from Mary Alice saying she knows he’s trying. In the kitchen, Pickel and VJ are talking about Jesse and his issues. Pickel says he’ll never be able to handle the criticism because he’s black, gay, and overweight. Andre says it has nothing to do with Jesse being gay or black, it’s because he’s fat.

In the middle of the night, Andre wakes Angela up to help him get into the locked bathroom because the question was about US Independence Day. She’s not happy he woke her up, but helps him anyway. The next morning Lisa finds a note about the next challenge, which mentions having science knowledge. Blonde Rachel says she was good in science because she cheated off of someone. They get to choose a teammate and VJ hooks up with Jesse. VJ admits he knew people would think he would choose Blonde Rachel, but he wants to win. The people without partners are Andre, Lisa, and the two Rachels. Lisa tries to pair up with Aussie Rachel, but Andre pulls at her and tells her she’s his partner. Lisa did not want to have to work with Andre again, so she grabbed Blonde Rachel who was standing next to her and took off. Blonde Rachel is mad she didn’t get VJ. Aussie Rachel isn’t thrilled with having Andre, but he’s the only one left and she tells him she took no sciences in school.

They walk into the challenge room and find a science fair set up for them. Ben tells them to learn about a science concept and then present it using an exhibit. Mary Alice then introduces Bill Nye the Science Guy and Angela and Brett are excited to meet him. Bill tells them he will help them learn the stuff and hopefully change the world. Andre has no idea who he is. Brett comes forward to pick a topic out of a bucket and he gets Newton vs. Einstein. Blonde Rachel has no idea what magnetic levitation is when Lisa picks it. They will be judged on accuracy, quality of the visual aid, and overall grasp of the topic. They will win a secret box with the edge for the callback challenge. They have 2 hours to complete their projects.

The teams pair off and start reading the information packet. Pickel thinks it’s insane because he can’t understand Einstein’s theories. Bill comes to help them out, but Pickel thinks he’s kooky and is still lost. Bill helps Jesse and VJ by telling them to make their volcano gooshy and exploding. When he tries to help Andre, Andre can’t figure out what color to make a sign for hot. Bill tells Daniel to help the world want to capture solar energy with their Solar House. He finally gets to Lisa and Blonde Rachel and neither of them can tell him what levitation was or how a toaster works. The more he talked them, the more confused Rachel got. He tells them to work on their presentation.

Pickel and Brett have a comedy schtick that they think will help them out. Andre decides they should be half naked during their presentation to get people’s minds off the fact they don’t know what they’re doing. Angela panics because they don’t have a battery they need for their project. Lisa thinks they are going to fail.

First up are Blonde Rachel and Lisa. Rachel is reading things off of a piece of paper and can’t even pronounce the words. Lisa tries to explain the concept, but has no clue. Pickel and Brett decide they are going to be nerds named Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein as they describe gravity. Ben calls it a Yiddish stage production. Daniel was afraid Bill would love it and Andre gives them the best actor and best supporting actor awards. Andre and Aussie Rachel come out from behind their presentation board scantily clad to talk about weather systems. Rachel says it’s going to be a horrible presentation, so they should at least look good. Brett says he has no idea what the project is about because he’s staring at Rachel’s bikini and VJ thinks they should fail for wearing their underwear. Jesse and VJ present their volcano and can’t answer their questions. Bill wants them to blow the volcano up and it took awhile to get started, but then it erupted everywhere and wouldn’t stop. Angela and Daniel are worried their project will be boring as they explain it. The other models look confused and bored, but Ben thinks it’s great.

The judges then give the results. Ben tells Lisa and Blonde Rachel it’s obvious they aren’t scientists and he gives them a D+. Ben tells Aussie Rachel and Andre he didn’t get why they were in their underwear and Bill says they could have said something about being too hot and needing to take off their clothes to tie it in, and they are given a C+. Pickel and Brett get good reviews from Mary Alice and Ben thinks they did a great job and gives them an A-. VJ and Jesse didn’t teach Ben anything new, so he gives them a C-. That makes Jesse mad because he thinks Ben already knows everything so it’s not fair. Angela and Daniel get great reviews from Bill and Ben. He tells them they are the essence of what the science fair was all about and gives them an A+. Their edge is sunless tanning for their tropical photoshoot tomorrow. Andre thinks the challenge is his with his blue eyes and great tan. Jesse is upset because if he can’t win the mental challenges, he’s never going to win the show.

Later, the models are getting ready for the photoshoot. Jesse thinks he should win this one because how can’t a black man win a tanning contest? Pickel and Brett talk about shaving their chests and Pickel thinks they have an advantage because they have great bodies. Jesse says he’s got a great exotic face and VJ has a great body, so they just have to position themselves to look good.

The models head down for the challenge in their swim wear. They are told they will be shooting a mock ad for a sunless tanning product called “Bronze O Matic”. Angela and Daniel meet their edge who works for Mystic Tan. They get a tanning session while everyone else has to make their own tanning lotion out of things like cocoa and coffee. Mary Alice tells them they will get a third team member and a lot of really white nerds come walking in. Daniel and Angela get the geekiest of all geeks and Lisa and Blonde Rachel get the hairy one. They get one hour to make their tanning lotion and put it on their teammate.

They start rubbing the products all over their nerds and Blonde Rachel and Lisa decide to shave their furry guy. Andre and Lisa take their guy out into the back yard and Andre wants him to stuff a sock down his pants. Then he decides he will be naked instead and Aussie Rachel wants Andre to help him tan his nether regions. Andre refuses to touch a dude like that. Daniel and Angela get their nerd into the tanning booth and he needs multiple coats of the tanning lotion because he’s so white. Pickel and Brett use just lotion and cocoa powder, but when it dries she looks like she has a weird disease. Lisa and Blonde Rachel’s nerd also looks like a burn victim.

They all head out to the pool to begin their challenge. They get 30 minutes to stage the photo, shoot it, and pick their final shot. Mary Alice will judge on the quality of photographs and the nerds’ tans. Pickel and Brett go first and decide to make their nerd a queen for a day and the star of the shoot. Blonde Rachel and Lisa decide to really work their bodies and use their nerd as a towel boy. They get in the pool to cover up most of their bad tan. Andre and Aussie Rachel get their nerd naked and try to make the mortal man a god. VJ and Jesse go next and VJ gets front and center because he thinks he’s got the best body. Angela and Daniel decide to play up the nerdiness of their guy and pull his trunks down a little so you can see the tan line.

Back in the house, Jesse talks to Andre and Aussie Rachel about how he thinks VJ tried to sabotage the photo. This makes Andre mad because he doesn’t like cheaters. They go downstairs for the results and Mary Alice starts with Brett and Pickel’s disaster of a tan. She tells them they put the weakest link out front. Blonde Rachel and Lisa get told their nerd looks like he’s got a rash and they should have used their bodies instead. Blonde Rachel tells her their faces were off on every body shot. The next one is Andre and Aussie Rachel get good reviews for their photo and Andre thinks he’s a genius. Mary Alice also likes Angela and Daniel’s picture and tells them they did a good job. VJ and Jesse get reprimanded for VJ taking over the photo and she asks about VJ sabotaging the picture. Andre speaks up and tells Mary Alice that Jesse told him VJ did sabotage the photo. He thinks he needs to defend people who can’t defend themselves. VJ gets mad for Andre putting words in his mouth. Mary Alice asks him straight up if he sabotaged Jesse and he says he didn’t. She chooses Andre and Aussie Rachel as the winners because their photo had the most potential.

Jesse gets ready for elimination and thinks it will be him who is eliminated. He shakes hands with Andre and cries because he doesn’t want to go home. They all hit the catwalk for eliminations. Pickel doesn’t think they were the worst, but he knows he can do better. Blonde Rachel and Lisa are nervous because they did poorly on both challenges. Mary Alice tells Andre and Aussie Rachel they are lucky because they did poorly on the science fair, but they are safe because they won the callback challenge. Andre doesn’t care who goes home because it’s not him and he did better than Daniel. Mary Alice calls Blonde Rachel and Lisa down. She tells them they did poorly and didn’t work well together and Ben mentioned how poorly they did at the science fair. Jesse is called down yet again. Mary Alice tells him he’s probably a great actor, but he’s not acting like a model. Ben and Mary Alice tell Lisa she needs to take things more seriously in the brains challenges. They tell the models it was a hard decision, but they cut Jesse. Mary Alice tells Lisa and Rachel this is their final warning and they need to start working it for the ladies because there are a lot of guys left who have upped their game.

Next week, they have to dissect pigs and Blonde Rachel freaks out. Andre gets mad again. They have to shoot a commercial in a cold shower. VJ cheats again and Brett decides he’s not going to let him get away with it.
