Watching VH1

Pepa is on the lookout for a great guy to date. She wants a guy like in their song “Whatta Man”. Salt decides to play matchmaker and help her find someone who is good for her. Salt has strong opinions about Pepa’s bad boyfriends. Pepa is on the prowl and is ready to pounce and feels Salt has no idea because she’s married. Pepa tells her friends that Salt wants her to come over for dinner and bring a date with her. Salt tells her friend, as they are walking, that Pepa met her date at a club and thinks she’s wasting her time.

Salt grills Pepa’s date about how old he was, past relationships, and monagomy. Pepa says she likes manogomous relationships and her date asks if that is something that can be negotiated. He then tells a story about an ex-girlfriend stabbing him. Salt asked if he pressed charges and he says they were both arrested. Salt takes Pepa to the bathroom and tells her this guy is a big red flag because he was stabbed by a girl. Salt’s husband asks the date if he likes Pepa and he asks who? Salt tells Pepa she’s in denial and can’t ignore the red flags. Salt and her husband decide it’s time to go home and they say goodbye to the date. Pepa says she believes in “Whatta Man” and wants a “Whatta Man”.

After Pepa gets home, she talks with her dog and then answers her phone to hear Salt on the line. Pepa tells her she was right about her date last night. She now wants to go to a professional matchmaker to find a guy. Salt thinks it’s a great idea and they go together to a guy who will find an exclusive match for her. Pepa tells him she has a history of choosing bad guys. Salt tells the matchmaker that Pepa’s last relationship had gold teeth. He tells her she can’t date those guys. Pepa tries to explain how she wants to change those bad boys and how she hasn’t been around investment bankers. Salt wants her to date a CEO. Salt asks the matchmaker if Pepa should be hiding her body more and he says he wants her to be herself. Salt wants to help him and he’s kind of taken aback at that. Pepa says that’s fine and the matchmaker agrees.

Pepa is shopping with her friends who are amused she’s letting Salt choose a date for her. Meanwhile, the matchmaker and Salt are meeting with a bunch of different guys and Salt grills them all about how they get along with their moms and their sex lives. One guy admits he’s dating several people right now. Most guys hem and haw about cheating and none of them really are any good. Salt complains to her husband about how hard it is to find someone for Pepa. The matchmaker told Salt that Pepa needs to date out of her zone and when she comes up with a name, her husband seems dumbfounded.

Salt invites Pepa over for her date and says she found someone who will be really good for her, even though the matchmaker couldn’t. She tells Pepa to open her mind and to expand beyond the norm. Salt says he’s a professional and has the biggest heart. Pepa wants to know if he has hair and if he’s round. Salt admits he doesn’t have hair and tells her just to have fun. The doorbell rings and Mark, Pepa’s date shows up. She doesn’t look too impressed at first sight. He kisses her hand as he sits on the couch and tells her she looks beautiful. He’s a bookkeeper and asks if he shocked Pepa when he came through the door.

Mark prays for everyone before they eat and Salt wants him to tell Pepa about his plans for making money. He asks Pepa if she needs those big things. Pepa says she wants back what she gives out and she admits she wants the whole package. Mark tells her that God was smiling when he made her. Pepa takes Salt into the pantry to ask what she was thinking. Pepa is upset he’s short and round and only reaches up to her boobs. She finds out he’s a youth pastor and flips out. When they get back to the table, Mark informs Pepa he doesn’t believe in sex before marriage and she about chokes.

They leave the house and Mark asks for Pepa’s number as they stand on the front porch and Salt and her husband peek out the window at them. She says she’ll get his from Salt and he wants her to promise she’ll call him. She balks and says she doesn’t make promises. He tries to kiss her and she pulls away. After he leaves, she tries to get back into the house to yell at Salt for setting her up with Mark.

The next day, Pepa meets with the matchmaker and tells him it was no good with Mark and she’s fired Salt. She wants him to do all the matchmaking from now on to find her a good match who she’s attracted to.

Next time, Pepa moves into Salt’s house for a short time. She outstays her welcome and Salt asks her to leave.
