Reality Rewind 10/22 (Gotti’s Way)
This week, Irv takes a break from Ja Rule and gets his hottest artist Lloyd on BET. He invites his daughter Angie along to watch, but has to talk with her about how he’s not her real dad. How will he handle all the pressures of the business and his home life? Check out my recap of Gotti’s Way after the jump.

Irv and Deb are talking about how their daughter Angie came home from school one day and said some kids told her that Irv wasn’t her real father and wanted to know if it’s true. He is really only her step father and he knew some day they would have to tell her. Deb asks him what he’s going to say to her and he tells her that he will tell Angie that he loves her and she’s his daughter even if she wasn’t conceived by him. Deb wants him to mention that she’ll hear other people say things throughout her life and you just have to deal with them. Irv gets mad at Deb because he wanted her to change Angie’s name so they didn’t have to deal with it. He has to go to Atlanta before he can have his talk with Angie.
Irv says he knows the music business perfectly and he is positioning Murder Inc. to do well and then he wants to take over the music industry. He meets up with Lloyd at a photoshoot in Georgia. Lloyd is a 17 year old artist that Irv signed instantly upon hearing him in his office. Irv greets the photographer Christian and tells him that Lloyd is very hot and his most important act. They are getting ready to release Lloyd’s record after his single did very well. Irv says that older women are kind of leery of him, but the younger girls love him. The photoshoot they are doing is to make him more sophisticated so the older women will buy his CD, too. It includes a scantily clad woman and some huge sun glasses. They pick out the best picture together and Irv wants to do well because it’s his first release from after the trial.
Irv calls Deb and tells her to drop Angie off at a TV show to hang out with him and Lloyd. He tells her the plan and when Angie needs to be there to see all of the stuff behind the scenes. Deb drops Angie off at Irv’s condo for the show and Lloyd is trying on outfits. He puts on a jacket and Angie tells him not to wear it. Irv respects her opinion because she’s 15 and knows what’s hot. They grab all of Lloyd’s stuff and head off in the car to the studio. Irv and Angie talk about how she’s playing hooky and how her friends will be jealous. Irv tells the camera he didn’t think you could love a step kid as much as your own kids, but Angie stole his heart. Irv talks about how he needs a haircut and Angie tells him his grays are showing.
Irv says again how well Lloyd needs to do well on the show and Lloyd goes out to the stage and hugs people in the crowd. They interview him and he talks about how he loves Irv and the crowd goes wild. After the show backstage, Irv gets excited and tells Lloyd how well he did. He’s amazed every time he goes on stage. He attributes it to his southern charm. Lloyd doesn’t believe him, so he asks Angie and she said she loved it. Lloyd gives her props for picking out the right jacket because everyone on stage liked it.
Irv says it was a big day for Angie and getting the experience to see that. Irv puts her into a car to go home. Irv and Lloyd continued on to a radio station to plug his new album again. Lloyd talks about how he makes music for the ladies, but he still hangs on the streets. His dad was killed on the streets and he doesn’t want to fall into that. Lloyd talks about Angie next and he and Irv give her a shout out and how great she is. At the end of the night, Irv was pleased with how the day went.
The next day, Irv heads to see Angie and have the talk about not being her father. He gets to Deb’s house and makes her go for a walk with him. He tells her he loves her to death and that he never wanted to have that talk with her. He says he never felt like she was a step daughter because he’s been her father since she was 11 months old. He asks what the people at school said and she says that they were just saying he wasn’t her dad. Irv says he’s the only father she’s ever known, so forget about those people because he’s her dad. He tells her he loves her more than he loves himself and he’s her dad period. She tells him that’s what her mom said, too. They stop and hug. Irv says it was a beautiful, honest talk and he just wants to see her happy.
That night, the whole family sits around Deb’s house playing Connect Four. Deb wins after some trash talking by Irv. The boys have to go to bed and Irv tells Deb about the talk with Angie. Irv wants Deb to change Angie’s last name to his and she said she’ll talk to the lawyer about it if Angie is okay with it. Irv gets up to go home and talks about how the kids used to cry when he’d leave, so now he waits until they’re asleep. Deb says he is a good father and asks him to take the garbage out as he goes.
Next week: Irv tries to get the number one spot on the countdown. He pushes his son in football and when his son gets upset because he doesn’t play, Irv tries to toughen him up. Deb tells him he’s too hard on the boys, but he thinks it’s for their own good.
