Watching VH1

This week, Bret brought in the Ex-boyfriends of his girls and he also brought in one of his ex-girlfriends - Season 1’s Heather! I can’t believe I actually missed her, but it makes me realize how boring this season is. I’m definitely glad she’s back.

I’ve been down and out with the flu for a few days and haven’t had the chance to watch or recap this week’s episodes of Scott Baio is 46 and Pregnant or Rock of Love. So I have a confession to make. I haven’t watched any of the new CelebReality shows this week. I know, I know, BAD WATCHING VH1 BLOGGER! Never fear, I will watch those episodes one of the gazillion times they are rerun on VH1, but I don’t want to keep you waiting any longer for recaps.

We’re only a couple of short weeks away from the premiere of Rock of Love 2! I, personally, cannot wait, especially after I saw the clip below of the super long promo commercial for the second season. I know what Bret Michaels is saying about right now. It’s probably something along the lines of “Awesome” or “Wassa Goin’ On”. No, he’s not talking about his Rock of Love Jes, he’s talking about his show Rock of Love on VH1. The Rock of Love finale, which aired this past Sunday night, annihilated the competition on cable earning the #1 spot for the night and the highest non-sports show ratings on all of cable for the entire week. There were no statistics as to whether or not the viewers were really tuning in to see who would become Bret’s girlfriend, or if they were more interested in learning whether or not Bret Michaels’ hair is real.

5.4 million viewers tuned in to see Bret choose Jes over Heather on the finale. Of those 5.4 million, 4.1 million just happen to be in the 18-49 age demographic–the preferred target audience for advertisers. The finale was the third highest rated non-sports show on cable for that coveted age demographic all year. It’s no wonder VH1 is already casting Rock of Love 2.

In fact, VH1 has been steadily climbing the ratings ladder with its original “CelebReality” programming. This marks the third quarter in a row for viewer increase. The network improved its overall ratings by 25% from last quarter and 25% from this time last year. VH1 is now #3 of all cable networks for Sunday night program ratings. Hopefully this trend will continue with a new season of I Love New York and new series’ The Salt N Pepa Show and America’s Most Smartest Model premiering next week.

Yet another CelebReality show is in the history books and Bret Michaels has found his Rock of Love in Jes. Of course, the fairy tale ending is never a certainty when it comes to looking for love on a reality TV show. We’ll find out next week if Jes and Bret really made a love connection on the reunion show, or if Rock of Love 2 will be with Bret trying again to find true love.

One thing is for sure, Heather will not be trying to make up with Bret anytime soon. Being described as the “stripper who failed to steal Bret Michaels’ heart”, Heather posted on her MySpace page about how the editing of the final episode, and the show in general, was designed to tear her down while building Jes up as the perfect girl. She says she’s very upset about the way she was portrayed and thinks its unfair the viewers didn’t see her doing caring things for Bret like make him breakfast in bed and bring him roses. She claims the final scene was also edited to make it look like she said she’d share, Bret, but her blog post insists that both she and Jes said no to that request. Heather also goes on to say she hasn’t been stripping in awhile and has some new projects in the works. Looks like we’ll be seeing more of Heather in the near future!

Heather isn’t the only one upset by the Rock of Love editing team. Jes also told reporters that she was upset by the finale editing to make it look like she was nude in the jacuzzi. Jes insists she was wearing a bikini and wanted to make it clear throughout the show that she had morals. She also told her hometown newspaper, the Naperville Daily Herald, that there will be a twist during the reunion show and would not comment about her current relationship status with Bret Michaels. Again, this all points to a Rock of Love 2 starring Bret Michaels, but I guess we’ll have to wait until next Sunday for the Rock of Love Reunion Show to find out for sure.
