Watching VH1

Well, the concert and ceremony may not be until July 12th, but VH1 is already starting to get their line up together for the 2008 Rock Honors show. This year, VH1 will celebrate The Who with a tribute. They will also be performing at the concert show that will be shown on VH1.

No other honorees have been announced at this time, but keep checking back here for the entire line up when it becomes available.

Recent reports are now linking actress Cameron Diaz and magician Criss Angel as a couple. The pair met at last weekend’s taping of VH1’s Rock Honors. Cameron was there to introduce Heart and Criss did a bit of magic before helping introduce Ozzy Osbourne. Since the taping, the supposed couple have been showing up in public together all over Las Vegas (where the show was filmed) having dinner at the Bellagio, taking in the new Cirque Du Soleil show “LOVE” and partying with Drew Barrymore at Jet Nightclub.

The VH1 Rock Honors show taped last weekend at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. WatchingVH1.com will be bringing you some of the pictures from the event throughout the week. VH1’s Rock Honors will be paying tribute to Heart, Genesis, Ozzy Osbourne, and ZZ Top in an awards show to air May 24th on VH1. Already confirmed musical acts include Keane, Gretchen Wilson, Alice in Chains, Queens of the Stone Age, and Nickelback. The show is shaping up to be a great musical treat and the promos have begun appearing on VH1 during its CelebReality lineup.

I was very excited, however, to hear about the latest musical act to be added to the pre-show. I have no problem admitting I absolutely adore Hal Sparks and everything he does. Probably best known to VH1 fans for his snarky commentary on the “I Love the 80s” shows, Hal is a comedian and musician (even beyond his short stint on “Celebrity Duets”). Hal’s band, Zero 1, will be playing at a pre-show during the Rock Honors weekend. I happen to be on his Friends List over at MySpace, and here is the bulletin he sent out about his new gig:

My band and I have been asked to play the opening show for VH1 Rock honors weekend in Los Angeles!

The show will Benefit the Save The Music Foundation!

——-> May 17th at The Hard Rock Universal : 8 pm!

This’ll be our debut gig before the tour and our first time in front of a big crowd since the album was finished!

They are honoring Ozzy, Genesis, Heart and ZZ Top so you can expect us to do a couple of fun cover tunes as well as originals from the new record!

I am using far too many exclamation points!!

Two more great acts, Alice in Chains and Queens of the Stone Age, will appear on stage at VH1’s Rock Honors award show to be broadcast on May 24th. These bands will join Keane, Gretchen Wilson, and Nickelback as they pay tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, Heart, ZZ Top, and Genesis. Who can’t get enough of Genesis, Heart, Ozzy Osbourne, or ZZ Top? I know I love this year’s honorees at the VH1 Rock Honors Awards. They will be joined on stage by performances by an eclectic bunch of artists like Nickelback, Gretchen Wilson, and Keane. Hosted by bad boy Bam Margera (son of former Celebrity Fit Clubber Phil Margera), the show will be taped and broadcast live from the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas on Thursday, May 24th at 9 pm EST.

Tickets range from $75-$175 for the event and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
