Scott Baio on Entertainment Tonight

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

scottrenee.jpgLast night on Entertainment Tonight, they did a feature story on the one and only Scott Baio, whose VH1 reality show “Scott Baio is 45…and Single” debuts this Sunday. This is not the typical CelebReality dating show like Flavor of Love, I Love New York, or the upcoming Rock of Love with Bret Michaels. Instead, Scott tries to figure out where he went wrong in his love life and why he has never been married after all these years.

The first episode will find him choosing a “life coach” to help him figure out his problems. He settles on Dr. Ali who gives him a set of three rules he must follow for the entire 8 week program.

1. He must revisit all of his ex-girlfriends and figure out what went right and wrong in each relationship. This means he’ll have to see his “Happy Days” co-star Erin Moran and other various celebrity girlfriends he did wrong.

2. He must remain celibate for the entire program. His buddies make bets on how long he’ll actually last and even buy him some strippers to make him mess up. Nice friends, Scott. Maybe that’s why you aren’t married.

3. He has to break up with his current girlfriend, Renee, and not see her for the entire program.

Entertainment Tonight gives a sneak peek of how she reacts to that news:

Scott, who has been looking for love, has been dating RENEE for the past year and a half. He feels she is “perfect,” but he isn’t sure how she is going to react to the news that they have to be apart for two months. When he tells her, she insists she will be his “biggest cheerleader,” but she cautions him that he had better be able to make a commitment at the end of the eight weeks, or she will have to let him go.

From the previews, Renee looks like a very intelligent, beautiful, and stable woman. Let’s hope Scott Baio can come to terms with his past and his fears and settle down with her for good. And of course, we’ll have fun watching it all happen! The premiere is on this Sunday July 15th at 10:30 PM ET.

New Series: Ego Trip’s Race-O-Rama

Wednesday, June 6th, 2007

VH1 just keeps rolling out the new series for the summer. This time, VH1 teams up once again with Ego Trip (of the White Rapper Show fame) to bring us a unique look at race and how we relate. This will be a three hour-long special series that will explore racism as no one has done before. The official show description says:

The team is back and coined the new series Race-O-Rama, which will take the controversy one step further and ask questions that very few people have had the nerve to ask before. The series will consist of three one hour specials exploring some amusing, bizarre and hot button topics.

The first episode set to air is called “In Race We Lust” and will look at interracial relationships and how races feel about dating others and why they do it. I loved “The White Rapper Show” so I am looking forward to this series and it’s honesty.

Check out the VH1 TV Schedule to find out when the show airs.

New Series: Can’t Get a Date

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

VH1 premieres a couple of new series this week for your summer viewing pleasure. The first one to premiere will be “Can’t Get a Date”. The premise of the show is a host that is heard but never seen (much like Charlie from Charlie’s Angels) will guide some self proclaimed “undatable” people through the trials and tribulations of finding the one for them. The official show description promises the host will be frank and honest with the contestants:

All of us, no matter how successful in romance, have occasionally wondered, “Why can’t I find love?” Can’t Get a Date is a hypnotizing portrait of ordinary people as they wrestle with the most challenging, confusing and fascinating human activity. It’s one show everybody can relate to.

There are three episodes on this week following Max, Mya, and Morgan through their self discovery and dating dilemmas. I, personally, can’t wait for the episode about the guy who keeps a jar of urine in his room. Let’s hope that host has a magic wand–and some Lysol.

A Summer of Poison with VH1

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

bret.jpgDo you miss the great sound of 80s hair bands? Can you just not get enough of long haired lead singers in tight pants? Well, VH1 has got the answer for you this summer. Hot on the heels of Poison guitar guru CC Deville appearing on The Surreal Life comes a summer of Poison for your viewing pleasure.

First and foremost, the band is back together and will embark on a 50 city tour this summer after the release of their new album “Poison’d” set to drop on June 5th. It’s their first studio album together in quite some time and will be an album of covers. They will be joined on tour by RATT and White Lion. To find a city near you, check out their tour schedule.

VH1 will bring you not one, but TWO Poison related shows set to air this summer. Remember that Poison tribute band called “Posin’” that CC Deville and the rest of the Surreal Life cast competed against in their Battle of the Bands challenge? Well, Posin’ now has a show of their own. The reality show/rock doc will follow the tribute band on the road and show all of the behind the scenes craziness and drama that comes with the gig.

Last, but certainly not least, Poison front man Bret Michaels is set to star in his own “Flavor of Love” style show where he will choose from a bevy of beauties to find true love. The promos for “Rock of Love” are now airing during VH1’s CelebReality shows. Blabbermouth.net posted the following quote by the show’s producers who promise this is the craziest show they’ve ever made:

This reality series showcases everything from, full contact lingerie mud football, super cross wrecks, tattoos, nakedness, Harleys and, of course, babes. There are full-on fist fights and nervous breakdowns to boot.

Sounds like fun to me! The premiere date is July 15th. Which Poison related event are you most looking forward to? Let me know in the comments section.

Men vs. Women Slimdown Showdown

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

ant1.jpgThose giant scales and Ant are back for the fifth season of VH1’s CelebReality staple, Celebrity Fit Club. This season will pit the men against the women in their weight loss competition for fabulous prizes and a smaller waistline. To make things fairer, the contestants will be competing for percentage of weight lost instead of actual pounds.

Dr. Ian Smith and Drill Instructor Harvey Walden IV again sit on the panel of experts, but Dr. Linda Papadapolous is taking the season off and will be replaced by psychotherapist Stacy Kaiser. There promises to be fireworks in the very first episode’s fit camp when some of the fit clubbers resist Harvey’s charming demands.

The contestants cover a wide range this year in both level of celebrity and amount of weight to lose. The women’s team consists of Maureen “Marcia Brady” McCormick, rapper Da Brat, American Idol third place contestant Kimberley Locke, and 80s pop princess Tiffany. The men are Dustin “Screech” Diamond, country music parody artist Cledus T. Judd, R&B artist Warren G, and Ross “The Tonight Show Intern” Matthews. To learn more about the show or to see “before” pictures, head on over to the Celebrity Fit Club page at VH1.com.

Which team will lose the most weight? Tune in at 9:00 PM ET on Sundays starting April 22nd to cheer on your favorites while eating some Twinkies as you sit on the couch. Ahhh, CelebReality.

Jerry’s New Dance: The Springer Hustle

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

I think everyone who has ever seen the Jerry Springer Show has wondered where in the world they find those unbelievable guests.springereat.jpg Luckily, VH1 is brave enough to go behind the scenes and bring us loyal viewers the toils and tribulations of the Jerry Springer Show production staff.

We will be introduced to producers Selena, Annette, and Toby as they try to impress the boss, Richard. They come up with the show themes and are charged with tracking down the people who live those crazy lives. Of course, Jerry is right in the mix and brings the production staff’s ideas to life. If the office is half as crazy as what happens on stage, I don’t think even Steve the bouncer will be able to help.

Tune in Sundays at 11:30 PM for the mayhem starting April 15th. Check back here for recaps and commentary, or the VH1 Springer Hustle page for more information.

From Prince Charming to Charm School

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

fol2.jpgThey may not have found true love with Flava Flav, but 13 former Flavor of Love contestants have been invited to Charm School for a chance to win $50,000. Of course, they are going to have to survive becoming proper ladies under the tutelage of comedienne Mo’Nique. That means no weave pulling, taking a dump on the stairs, or spitting in someone else’s mouth. Aw, man! At least Mo’Nique is there to make sure the girls know just how ridiculous they really are.

This new CelebReality offering on VH1 will premiere on April 15th at 10:00 PM EST. Some of the most memorable contestants from both seasons of Flavor of Love are back and ready to beat the competition. From season one are Smiley, Serious, Pumkin, Rain, Goldie, and Hottie. Representing season two will be Buckwild, Buckeey, Bootz, Like Dat, Saaphyri, Krazy, and the hopefully drunk Toasteee. It looks to be a knock down, drag out, finger-wavin’ catfight fest. I can’t wait! I am taking bets on the first fight–let me know who will be involved in the comments section below.

Check out a sneak preview of the first episode on the VSPOT .
