Watching VH1

Are you a self proclaimed geeky guy who can’t get a date on his own? Do you just freeze up when you see a beautiful woman and turn into a big dork? Well, never fear! Mystery and his crew (including a new wing woman) are back to help guys just like you learn how to approach women successfully and close the deal. Seven guys already have spots, but there is one more spot open for an online winner to join in and learn the tricks of picking up women.

PickUpArtist2Casting.com will be accepting online applicants over the next 10 weeks or so to be considered for the final spot on the show this season. The online competition will be broken into three parts with tasks for the applicants to complete in order to move on to the next round. The rounds will focus on the subjects of Mystery’s lessons such as interesting openers. The winner will be crowned by the online voters and will join the others in the house to learn Mystery’s Method of picking up women.

We are down to the final two guys, Kosmo and Brady on The Pickup Artist. Who has taken Mystery’s advice to heart and become the Master Pickup Artist? Before we find out in the finale, let’s take a look back at the previous weeks’ postings on a trip down memory lane through the Watching VH1 archives.

We first brought you word of the show and I will admit I was skeptical that the guy in the goofy looking costumes could teach anyone about picking up women when it seemed like all he really wanted was their accessories and eye makeup. However, I became a believer as I watched and recapped every episode. I started to love the contestants and all their quirks, and was relieved when no one left the first week. I was surprised when Spoon volunteered to leave, even though he had won the makeover challenge. I never did think Fred belonged there, so I was okay with him leaving the next week. Scott tried so hard, but that was eventually his downfall and got misty eyed with Mystery and the contestants when my favorite, Joe W., was eliminated. It seemed so unfair that Pradeep was still around, so I wasn’t sad when he was gone the next week. Finally, this past week was Joe D.’s swan song leaving Kosmo and Brady left to battle it out for title as Master Pickup Artist.

I also used a weekend video clip to post more advice from Mystery on getting that kiss close. I will say now that I really enjoyed the show and watching the transformation of the contestants from geeks to confident ladies men. There will be an “extra scenes” clip show on this Sunday.

The final three on the Pickup Artist had quite the challenges on their hands with tonight’s episode. Not only did they have to get a phone number from a walking target during the day, they also had to pick up an exotic dancer in their field test. Who prevailed? Who made it to the final two? Are you one of those poor guys who just can’t get a date? Do your pick up lines need a little work? Never fear! Your friends at VH1 have got the solution for you in the form of a guy named Mystery. The new CelebReality offering, called “The Pick-Up Artist”, premieres next Monday August 6th at 9 PM ET/PT. The new show is described as:

“The Pick-Up Artist” is about the transformation of eight social outcasts longing for social acceptance. These men will be forced to dig deep within themselves and find the courage to overcome their biggest fears. Who will rise to the occasion and find the girl of their dreams? Who will crack under the pressure and call it quits? And who will discover that their biggest enemy in their quest to find true love has always been … themselves?

Mystery seems to be an interesting character from the short commercials that have been airing during Rock of Love with Bret Michaels. With his unique hats and dark goth-like attire, Mystery doesn’t necessarily seem like the guy who takes women home from the bar to his swank bachelor pad. However, he has perfected the art of picking up women through trial and error and has been teaching guys the world over how to put those techniques to successful use.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what his tips and tricks are and if the 8 contestants can pull them off. Don’t forget to also catch the first episode of “Mission: Man Band” right after at 10 PM!
