Celebrity Fit Club returns this Thursday with an all new season of sweating and swearing. Speaking of swearing, here’s an interview with Drill Sergeant Harvey Walden IV for you to enjoy while we wait.

Are you looking forward to seeing more celebrities sweat off their extra weight with Drill Sergeant Harvey Walden IV? Well, your wait is just about over! Celebrity Fit Club is back and will air Thursdays starting March 13th. However, it’s not Fit Club like you’re used to. It’s got a whole new look and feel to the show.

First of all, it’s called “Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp”. That’s right! Not only will they be bunking together in a barracks like setting, they get a lot more of Harvey yelling at them. Woo hoo! The other twist is that these won’t be significantly overweight celebs, but instead some that just need to shed those last 20 or so pounds before reaching their goal weight. The new season will also pit Fit Club veterans (Toccara, Willie Ames, Tina Yothers, and *gulp* Dustin Diamond) against 4 new celebs (Erin Moran from “Happy Days”, Sommore from “Queens of Comedy”, AJ Benza a Pro Poker Player, and Brian Dunkelman the displaced host from the first season of “American Idol”). The cast will not only be judged on number of pounds lost, but overall fat percentage lost. If you have no idea who these people are, you can see pictures of them at VH1.com.

Ant is back to host for his sixth time, and Dr. Ian Smith and Psychologist Stacy Kaiser also return to help out the celebs with their wisdom and guidance. It looks like it should be a fun season!

The only thing I’m not really looking forward to is more Dustin Diamond. He sucked up all the screen time in his season and drove me crazy. I love me some “Saved By the Bell”, but it wasn’t the Screech scenes that made me want to come back for more and the same applies to Celebrity Fit Club. Let’s hope he’s mellowed out or living in the same room with everyone else under Harvey’s thumb will straighten him out. First of all, I have no idea what most of these people have to do with music or celebrating the greatest music artists out there, but who cares? They’ve all got shows to promote on VH1, and that’s what’s important, right? There were all kinds of CelebReality stars out and about at the Grammy Awards and the parties leading up to the ceremony and also into the wee hours of the night at the after parties. Hopefully, those Celebrity Rehab stars didn’t fall off the wagon with all of the celebrating!

Some VH1 CelebReality stars were caught out and about on New Years’ Eve a few nights back living it up and some even creating some controversy for us to examine. Are you ready to read about all the debauchery and celebrating? Let’s get to it!

First of all, Perez Hilton has several pictures up on his blog of VH1’s newest CelebReality couple New York and Tailor Made. The fact that they partied it up and kissed (awkwardly, very awkwardly) for the cameras leads me to believe those rumors about New York being pregnant with Buddha’s baby not true. After all, that was supposed to all go down on the reunion show ending with Tailor Made dumping New York and that’s been taped already. Of course, since the reunion show hasn’t aired, it is possible they are playing it up for the cameras so no one suspects what will really happen on Sunday night’s reunion show. My guess is that the rumor about their engagement is the one that is really true. Judging by the pictures, though, they really need to work on their chemistry. The kissing just seems fake.

Today I came across a photo at TMZ.com that was almost disturbing. Kimberley Locke looks great after her Celebrity Fit Club stint, but she was indeed spotted out and about cozying up with one Sgt. Harvey Walden IV on New Years Eve. That’s right! The drill sergeant and trainer from Celebrity Fit Club seems to have taken a personal interest in Ms. Locke post show. However, there is a slight problem. You see, Harvey is a married man. His reps claim he is still married to his wife, but TMZ pointed out that he wasn’t wearing his wedding ring when he was seen out with Kimberley. This is definitely a story I’ll keep my eye on and bring you more information when it is available.

Hey, you! Put down that cheeseburger, turn off VH1, and join in the 50 Million Pound Challenge. Dr. Ian Smith from Celebrity Fit Club has started an initiative for African Americans to get them healthier through diet and exercise. His goal is a lofty 50 million pounds (hence, the name) by building a community of support. There is no time limit to reach this goal, although Dr. Ian does stress “the sooner the better”.

The challenge is open for anyone to participate, but it is aimed at getting African Americans healthy, since their weight loss needs are often neglected by the public in general. However, everyone is welcome to participate since obesity is a disease that crosses all racial, social, and geographical barriers in the United States.

Based on the principles of Dr. Ian’s bestselling book, “The Fat Smash Diet”, this push to get America healthy couldn’t have come at a better time. Some statistics from the Official 50 Million Pound Challenge Website are sobering:

The number one health crisis facing not only African Americans, but all Americans, is being overweight. Two out of every three adults (66%) today are considered to be overweight, or even worse, obese. Even more troubling, 17% of all children in the U.S. are now overweight. The statistics for African Americans are even more alarming—where almost 80% of adult women and 67% of adult men are overweight. Equally worrisome is that 20% of African-American teenagers between the ages 12-19 are overweight, and this number appears to be rising.

Are you ready to get started? Head on over to the Official 50 Million Pound Challenge Website and sign up. Talk with others taking the challenge in the community section, and download your starter kit. You can also contact your local State Farm Insurance agent (a sponsor of the challenge) to get started.

Fireworks at the Premiere, indeed! This season of Celebrity Fit Club: Men vs. Women, is off to a crazy start. This season’s contestants Maureen McCormick, Kimberley Locke, Da Brat, Tiffany, Cledus T. Judd, Ross “The Intern” from the Tonight Show, Warren G, and Dustin “don’t call me Screech” Diamond started off the show with a bang. Tonight’s show featured initial weigh ins, the first day of fit club with Harvey, a lot of yelling, some crying, and of course that giant scale. Who has the most to lose? The ratings are in from this weekend’s big CelebReality premiere night on VH1. “Charm School”, the latest “Flavor of Love” spinoff, broke all VH1 records for a debut bringing in 5.1 million viewers. It was able to grow its audience from its lead-in the “I Love New York Reunion Show” which held steady at 5 million viewers. The other new offering of the night, “The Springer Hustle”, was also a nice surprise pulling in 2.3 million viewers at the 11:30 PM time slot. All three shows also were strong in the coveted 18-49 year old viewer demographic that advertisers love.

This week, “Celebrity Fit Club” will premiere on Sunday night at 8/7c before “Charm School”. The teams will be divided men vs. women this season and the overweight stars will compete for even bigger prizes. VH1 is hoping for big numbers again as the CelebReality genre finds its niche in primetime television.
