Life After CelebReality: Flickerstick
Wednesday, June 20th, 2007Has it really been six years since VH1 aired the crazy “battle of the bands” type show “Bands on the Run”? It was a crazy mix of music, reality TV, and the rock and roll lifestyle that had the audience glued to the television to see who would win the record contract and get “heavy rotation” on VH1’s music video shows. Flickerstick was the big winner, beating out the Josh Dodes Band, Harlowe, and SoulCracker. However, after a video shown on VH1 for a few weeks, the band seems to have disappeared. What happened to Flickerstick?
Well, they are still recording, but not with the studio that signed them back in 2001 after their big win. Amazingly enough, the band is still together and creating new music. Theeagle.com writes:
Flickerstick has since parted ways with the record company it initially signed with, but the group continues to tour across Texas and the nation to play its brand of rock ‘n’ roll.
The band released a live record, Live from Atlanta, which was recorded during a two-day, invitation only concert in September 2006. About 150 fans packed the Tree Sound Studios to listen to Flickerstick record the CD.
One of their new songs off the live album, “Helicopter”, is getting some airplay on alternative radio stations throughout the South. If you are interested in their new album or hearing their sound again, you can check out their Official MySpace Page.
