Acceptable TV Season Finale

Saturday, May 12th, 2007

Did you catch the Acceptable TV season finale last night? If you missed it, the episode re-airs throughout the weekend, or you can head over to the Acceptable TV Website and see the video clips. Mr. Sprinkles survived the entire season, and since Operation Kitten Calendar was retired, the other reality show spoofs made it to the finale. “Who’s Gonna Train Me” and “I’m NOT Racist” debuted new episodes. You can’t vote this week for your favorite clip, but the user made video contest is still going strong, so head over and support your favorite entry by voting.

I’m sure Acceptable TV will return for another season, so keep checking back here for an announcement of when it will be on. Until then, I will be patiently awaiting “Operation Kitten Calendar in Space”.

Weekend Video Clip (Operation Kitten Calendar)

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

Okay, I admit it…I’m hooked on Operation Kitten Calendar from Acceptable TV on VH1. My love for reality television shows is spoofed to perfection with this series of video clips. Unfortunately, Kitten Calendar has been retired–at least until next season. Here is the very first episode of Operation Kitten Calendar for your viewing pleasure. You can check out the others at the Acceptable TV website.

What did you think? Aren’t those kittens cute? Leave your thoughts in the comments section.

Acceptable TV Episode 7

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

Last night’s episode of Acceptable TV has proven that the VH1 audience can’t get enough of reality show spoofs and animated shows. “Who’s Gonna Train Me” about an insane boxer holding a contest to see who’s going to train him survived last week to compete again, as did “Mr. Sprinkles” the animated character trying to break free from his silly persona. “Mr. Sprinkles” has survived every week so far and keeps going strong. Personally, I don’t get the appeal, but if you like it, leave me a comment below and tell me why.

This week the new offerings include a “Star Trek” spoof called “Sin Trek” about a band of non-Christians wandering space after the rapture searching for Jesus, another reality show offering called “I’m NOT Racist” about a fallen from grace comedian who is choosing between ethnic women to date in order to prove he’s not really racist, and “The Price of Dollars” which predicts what will happen when a long-time, well-loved host of a TV Game Show (think Bob Barker) dies and someone new takes his place.

Head on over to the Acceptable TV Website to watch the videos and vote for your favorites. Which ones did you vote for? Do you miss “Operation Kitten Calendar” as much as I do? Let me know in the comments below!

Acceptable TV, Show 5 (4/20)

Friday, April 20th, 2007

Did you catch Acceptable TV this week? The offered shows this week include the new Gayliens about–obviously–gay aliens, Mr. Sprinkles about animated characters that look like a mix between a Dr. Seuss book and Ren and Stimpy, Federal Bureau of Abdullah–hilarity ensues when a former terrorist is sentenced to become the head of the FBI, The High Fiver about a guy who can read minds of people who high five him, and my favorite, Operation Kitten Calendar.

Operation Kitten Calendar is an unstoppable force that has yet to lose a vote. The hilarious send up of “The Apprentice” features contestants on a reality show trying to become the next Kitten Calendar photographer. How can you go wrong with adorable kittens and a crazy CEO who fires people by telling them to “KISS MY ASS”? Tonight’s episode was the finale for Operation Kitten Calendar and we get to see who wins the coveted position. I won’t ruin the ending, but it’s shocking!

Get over to the Acceptable TV website and watch the shows then vote for your favorites. The two winning videos will be back next week (although the show’s host said that Operation Kitten Calendar can only have a reunion show and that will be the end of its run if it is voted through–Aw, man!).

Tell me what your favorite episode is. I’ll be out buying myself a Kitten Calendar as I wait for your comments.

“Acceptable TV” Changes the Face of Television

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Are you a bit hesitant of anything that comes out of Jack Black’s head? Well, me too, but “Acceptable TV” is a hilarious show withjackblack.jpg a unique concept that is worth checking out. The premise of the show is that the Acceptable TV team comes up with 5 mini-show spoofs much like a Saturday Night Live type of skit and they compete head to head for viewer votes. After the airing of the show, fans can vote for their favorite sketch up until Monday at 3 pm ET and the two with the most votes will return to the following week to take on 3 brand new mini-shows.

Here is a clip of the show, “Yo! Murder He Wrapped” to whet your appetite:

New episodes air at 10 pm ET on Fridays and rerun throughout the weekend. You can watch all of the previous clips and vote at the official Acceptable TV website. Let me know your favorite clips and I will add them to the video clip collection here at Watching VH1.
